Customer Service Training Seminars: Being A Customer Service Representative

Are you looking for a new job? If so, you might take notice when you come across a number of customer service representative jobs posted online. If you are unfamiliar with this type of job, you may wonder what the job entails. Should you be hired for the job, what job duties might you be required to perform?

First and foremost, it is important to mention that the job duties will vary depending on the company and the industry you work in. The best way to get a feel for the job is to thoroughly read the customer service job description. Most companies will post a summary of the tasks performed in their online job listing. With that said, you can keep reading on for some of the common job tasks and duties performed by those who hold customer service representative jobs.

Customer Phone Calls: Most customer service reps will answer incoming phone calls from consumers. These phone calls may be to schedule an appointment, inquire about troubleshooting a product problem, or the consumer may be looking to gather more information on the company, the products sold, or the services sold.

In-Person Customer Service Support: While a good percentage of service workers provide service to consumer’s over-the-phone, a local business is likely to have local consumers stopping by. Whether it is to make a sale, inquire, or file a complaint, it would be your job to assist the consumer.

Sales: When working for a company that processes sales (either a product or a service) a customer service agent may also be required to secure additional sales. This typically falls in line with answering consumer phone calls; you want to go ahead and make them see the benefits of buying. It might also be your responsibility to enter recent purchases into the company's computer, and so forth.

Now that you got an idea of what type of job duties you might perform in this position, what is the best way to go about finding customer service representative jobs? Doing a search on a job search website is your best option. The good news? You have hundreds of websites to choose from. In fact, consider using a website that enables you to search all the best job search sites at once!

When it comes to searching a job search website, be sure to choose your keywords carefully. It is best to search with a general phrase, such as "customer service." If you would prefer to work in a retail store, as opposed to an office-like setting, you can read the listing or look at the company name to get an idea as to the environment.

Most job search sites also ask you to enter in your zip code and then select a radius to search. This radius enables you to only see jobs that meet your search criteria in your immediate area. So let’s say that you only want to drive 25 miles to work, that 25 mile radius should be what you search with. You save time this way by avoiding job listings that are too far away.
